He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20
Dear Faith,
Happy 4th birthday! You are such a gift from God. On this special day, I wanted to tell you how you got your name. Daddy and I used to live in a house with Colin in Lawrenceville. We decided we wanted to move, but we weren’t sure if it was the right thing to do. We prayed about it for almost a year. Daddy was sure we should move, but I wasn’t. Finally, God began speaking to me through sermons and my quiet times. He kept telling me to trust Him and to take a step of faith. I decided I would.
When we put our house on the market, we prayed and told God our best case scenerio – to sell our house in 1 month and move in with Papa and Sue Sue while a new house was being built (this would help us to save money). I threw in at the end of our prayer with a chuckle “…and to find out we are pregnant in the middle of it all.” You see we had just decided to have another baby and had not asked God for you, yet.
Well, we sold our home in 20 days (average selling time in our neighborhood at that point was 90 days)! We moved in with Papa and Sue Sue for four months and saved lots of money. The day after we moved in, we found out we were going to have another baby! We were very surprised. But we knew God heard our prayer and answered it! We dreamed of a little girl to complete our family. God knew that, too. When we found out we were having a girl, we decided to honor God and his blessings to us by naming you Faith. You are a living reminder to Mommy and Daddy of the faith of a mustard seed. My, how that seed has grown!
Love,
Mommy
How beautiful! Her name is a testimony she can hold on to forever. A testimony of His faithfulness and His love. I feel all smiley now. 🙂
