Jesus is the bread, so I’ll bring the butter!

Apr 30
Jesus is the bread of life.
Above Him there’s no other.
But when I eating bread, my friend
I’m hungry for some butter.

First, we start with a little bread making. While it’s baking, discuss with the little hungry lambs the fact that Jesus is the bread of life.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.  John 6:35 NIV
When the bread is almost done, begin the butter making.  Start with empty, clean baby food jars.
Next, you’ll need some heavy whipping cream.  Pour your whipping cream into the jars, filling them about 2/3 full.  Screw the lids on TIGHT!  This is necessary so you don’t have milk driblets all over the kitchen floor, sink, and counter. (Speaking from experience here, folks.)
Last, you’ll need some shakers.  These come in all shapes and sizes.  Mine just happened to be medium and small.  Let the shaking begin!  Shake, shake, shake until you feel like your arms are going to fall off.  Then shake some more.  After ten minutes or so, you won’t be able to hear it shake.  That means you’re getting close.  Keep shaking.
Soon, you’ll hear the liquid again.  Keep shaking a little longer.  You should see the butter through the side.  Take the lid off, and pour off the liquid.  That is buttermilk.  Take the butter out and place in a dish.  Add a little salt and stir it up.  Slice your bread and spread!  Enjoy!
