Janet Roller, Me, Lysa, Amy, Kimberly
Good times, God times! That’s what kind of fun I had last night. My girlfriend, Amy, and I drove to Greenville to her old church to hear none other than our most favorite – Lysa TerKeurst. (Lysa, if I knew how to make your name with blinking lights, I would.) Y’all, it was awesome. Lysa is one of the most down-to-earth, real deal, gifted speakers I have ever heard. It was so worth driving two hours in the rain to get there! (It’s a story I can tell the grandchildren. “I had to drive two hours, one way in the rain just to get me some Jesus.” I can hear it now.)
I just have to share one of the illustrations Lysa gave us last night. I’m nice that way. You’re welcome. She talked about how we all go through yucky things in our lives. She said those yucky things were like the eggs in a cake. We need all the ingredients to make the cake. She said we have dry ingredients like the dry times in our lives. We have the sugar like the sweet times. Then we have the yucky stuff, like the gloppy eggs that can make you sick if you eat them raw. We would love to leave out the yucky stuff in our lives. Can I get an amen? But…if we left those yucky eggs out of our cake, we would have a problem – no cake.
When we add the yucky together with all the other ingredients and add heat, we rise and make something beautiful. Isn’t that a great analogy? I will never bake a cake again without thanking God for making something beautiful out of the ingredients in my life. Last night was such a great time of fellowship and worship, it definitely counts as some sugar. What a sweet time it was!
Oh yeah, if you are a regular reader of Lysa then you know about “the coat.” Yes, friends, she had on “the coat” last night. It’s just as amazing as she. You gotta love TJ Maxx.

I love this girl!
By the way, girls just wanna have fun!
This might be very wrong of me, but I am quite jealous of you right now. You guys are so cute in those pictures.
Oh honey did you have to tell the whole world about the jacket… people are going to think it is like some kind of standard speaking outfit or something. It is by the way… but that’s besides the point. Smiles!
I’m only glad all you bloggy friends didn’t wear yours last night or the church would have really thought we were a bunch of crazies.
The only thing better would have been if you also drove up in a pick up truck with mattress attached to the back with a hook and chain.
Oh good times!
Sounds like a great time was had by all. Glad you got you some Jesus and got to hear Lysa speak. Loved the pics!
Makes me smile! 🙂
It was too fun!! We need to do it again… wait we are doing it again on Dec. 1. Yeah!!!
Looks like a fun night! i LOVE the last picture…..so cute. 🙂
Loved the pictures!!! Too cute! Thanks for recapping that wonderful anaology that Lysa shared.
So glad that I got to meet y’all last night! Glad that y’all made it home safely. Looking forward to visiting your blog again.
I LOVE that analogy!!
I’ve got me some dry ingredients right now, and not much sweet, I must be making biscuits instead of cake.
Hey Carol…what about this Girl wannabe…wanna have fun too with y'all. Hi ALL my favorites in my shot! I love the photos! But I'm like Bethanne…holy jealousy…
I think you're not suppose to cause your sisters to stumble!
Oh, and a comment by Lysa…or frame it and hang it for when your book gets published….??? So what's up with that?
All that aside, great post and I'm so happy that you and Amy got out, like Amy hasn't gone anywhere this summer. But really happy that you teamed up and heard Lysa. I just read that Cake thing on Tracy's blog (a little different). I pray that you are not so foolish to drive in storms any longer…here I am praying for your safety from the rains and you're out playing with Fay. SMILE:) Hope all is well and you'll check out my new idea for meme…I had a few but chose Monday first since I can't do Marriage Monday…:( Thanks for the visit and encouragement, I'm so honored! Big HUGS & Blessings!
Glad for your refreshment and for the “cake” that you are becoming. Wish I’d been closer to attend. Definitely seems as if I missed a party!
I love you, too, girl!
I cannot tell you how blessed I feel that God would allow me to connect with you, Amy, and Janet!!! And to get to see THE Lysa TerKeurst! He is so good to me! 🙂
Thanks for being so real, Carol! You are just as marvelous in person as you are on your blog!
That is such a great analogy! You guys look adorable…sounds like you had a great time in fellowship…
This is my first time visiting your blog – and I love your title. Too clever! I couldn’t help but notice you are a fellow chocolate lover.
Sounds like a good time was had by all. I love hearing Lysa speak, she’s fabulous.
Anyway, nice to meet you!
oooh…I wanna have fun, too! Looks like you had a BLAST!
