I’m on Jesus’ Blog Roll

Feb 7

Oh, friends, have I got something to tell you!  Jesus has a blog, and I’m on His blog roll!  Before you think me too crazy, let me explain a little how I came to realize this.

When I won the writing contest at Lysa Terkeurst’s blog, I was flabbergasted.  I was so excited to win, but I was just as excited when I realized Lysa Terkeurst had been to my blog!  My stars!  I’ve read her books.  I’ve watched her on Oprah.  She IS the P31 woman.  And she came to my blog.  Mercy!
Then there’s the time I realized that I was a link on Marybeth Whalen‘s side bar.  I had to call everyone I knew to tell them (of course half of my family thought a blog was something you ate at Christmas and the sidebar was what you would find on the dish beside it).  Marybeth is a published author and a member of the P31 team.  She’s cute, adorable, smart, and she wanted to link to me?  Inconceivable!
Then I read this:
And the LORD said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” Exodus 33:17 NIV
Okay, as fabulous as Lysa and Marybeth and even Beth Moore are – Jesus trumps them all!  God tells Moses here that He knows him by name.  That is powerful.
Imagine this:  It’s Saturday night.  You’ve just cleaned up from the delectable dinner you’ve served your family and found a comfy spot on the couch.  Your children are quietly reading books to one another. (Hey, I’m using my imagination.  Could happen.)  The phone rings.  You pick it up and answer with your perkiest voice, “Hello?”  On the other end you hear, “Yes, is this (insert your name here)?”  You reply with a “Why, yes it is.”  “Please hold for the president,” is what you hear.
You start to question what just happened.  Surely, he meant the president of Haverty’s.  You just bought all that new furniture.  They are calling to thank you.  You get caught up thinking about the new no-stain furniture you bought when you hear, “(insert your name), this is George W. Bush.”  That’s all he gets to say because at this point, you faint.
I don’t care if you are democrat or republican.  If the president of the United States calls your house and asks for you by name – that is a BIG deal!  Well, friends, Jesus, the King of all Kings knows your name.  He calls daily and asks for you by name.  You are so special to Him that He calls you His child.  That is an even BIGGER deal!
And, if you confess that you are a sinner and believe whole-heartedly that Jesus is God’s son, who was raised from the dead, and ask Him to live in your heart…then friends, YOU, too, will be on Jesus’ blog roll.  He’ll link right to you!  All I know is this – when the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there.
ps. If you have any questions about getting on Jesus blog roll, scroll down and read “Do you Know My Jesus?”  It’s at the very bottom.

    Carol-
Great entry. Wow, Christ the King knows my name. I don’t know whether to stand up really tall with my chest high or fall to my knees in humble adoration! Thanks for the reminder. Whose we are – not who we are matters most!

Carol, you do a great job. I may not rate with the others you have mentioned but I am adding you to my blog roll as well. I even shared your story “Jesus at McDonalds” with my readers. Thanks for what you do and keep writing.

Hey Carol– I am a little late to this party (of course Lysa had to beat me to leaving a comment– and no, I am not competitive at ALL!)but I did want to say I had to laugh out loud that you ranked mine any higher than any other blogroll. Wow, I thought, she thinks I am somebody! It made me want to go get my family and get them to read your post! Maybe they would appreciate me then?? Hmmmm. I can just see it now, “See, you guys are even more special because you aren’t just on my blogroll, you get to live in the same house as me!” I can see the looks on their faces now.

Thanks for the shot in the arm and also the perspective adjustment. The God of the Universe knows my name, He calls me by name, and He is with me. That’s all any of us need to know to get through life.

Congrats on the win- you deserved it, as I have said before.

Ok, right after I wrote that I discovered that my blogroll is down and every time I try to get to the site it says a fatal error has occurred. Do you think this has anything to do with your post?? Hmmm.

    🙂 Very well said!

I hear a country song coming when I read that title “I’m on Jesus’ blog roll”……

  • DeAnna Feb 8 at 3:20 pm

Absolutely great! I am continually amazed that the God of the Universe would care so much about me to know my name, to know my story with all of the yucky parts, hear me when I speak to Him and STILL love me the way that He does.

I love how you mix your humor with your deep love for the Lord! I know you bless so many lives! Thanks for blessing mine!

  • Mary Lou Feb 8 at 6:23 pm

It is an astounding and comforting thought all at the same time. Brings to mind the song…He knows my name, He knows my name, He knows my every thought….Which is scary…reminder about our thought life….Great post and great reminder that the best blogroll to be on is His….to have your name written in the Lamb’s book of Life….what an honor..Blessings…
