Greetings Fellow Sock Holders

Mar 28

Hey, friends! Have you stopped yet and completely laid it all down before the cross?  Have you given God your flawed and sinful self and said “Take it, it’s yours”?

God is like the ultimate garage sale junkie.  You know the type.  They are the ones who stop and turn the car around when they see the sprawl in a yard.  They can spot an orange and black GARAGE SALE sign from a mile away.  Then with a discerning eye, they glide from their car, confident they will find a treasure.  Where others see junk, this connoisseur of trash sees the core.  They see the potential for what could be.
God is like this.  He doesn’t just see us as we are but as He intended us to be.  God picked me up at a garage sale called life.  I wasn’t anything special.  No one else would have looked at me like a treasure, but He did.  He saw potential in me.  And I loved Him, so I gave it to Him – all I had, all I ever hoped to be.  I’m yours, Lord.  Use me.
That’s when the sock blowing began.  When I gave Him my all, He gave me more.  The week after I was invited back to Glorieta, Amy called with more good news.  (Have you noticed a common thread in my blessings lately?  Amy.  I think she was a gift from Him, as well.)  She and I had been chosen to be speakers at a women’s conference in North Carolina.
Amy’s friend Janet had given our names to a church who was putting on an all-day women’s conference.  Amy mentioned this possibility to me a couple of weeks before, but I hadn’t put a lot of thought into it.  From what I understood, they had a whole list of speakers from which they were choosing.  I never thought they would pick me.  But they did, or I should say, HE did.
So…May 24th at Cliffside Baptist Church in Cliffside, North Carolina, I will be one of the four speakers at the Extreme Spiritual Makeover Women’s Conference.  Amy will also be one of the speakers and will share Spencer’s story.  Debbie Sobeski from Hannah’s Hope Ministries will speak, as well as Leslie Nease from the China Survivor TV show.  Janet Roller is leading all the music, and Carol Davis from 106.9 The Light will emcee the event.
If you live in the area and would like to attend, the tickets are $25 and are on sale from the church.  You can contact them HERE or call them at 828-657-6044.  Pray for the other ladies and myself as we prepare the message God has for these ladies to hear.
‘Aint God good?  Can I get an amen?

Off topic, but just wanted to respond to the comment you left me. I have been to Buford many times (You know, we have to do the whole mall thing from time to time), although, I live about an hour and a half south of you in a teeny tiny town called Grantville. We are stuck in between Newnan, and Lagrange. >:0) Again, I look forward to keeping up with your blog! It’s really great.

    AMEN!

Just wanted to let you know what a blessing you are in my life. Had it not been for you, and God of course, I would not have the opportunities I’ve been given.

It will be an awesome conference I just know it! Wish I could be there cheering you all on!!
