Jesus May be at McDonald’s, but Satan is at the Piggly Wiggly

Mar 31

Jesus may be at McDonald’s, but Satan is at the Piggly Wiggly, aisle six to be exact.  If you are looking to stretch your pants because they just feel too loose, aisle six is for you.  When you want to add meaningless sugar and fat to your diet, because you are bored of having good cholesterol, head to the sixth aisle.  If you want a year-round inner tube to decorate your midsection, aisle six again.

On mischievous aisle six, you’ll find the Cheez-its calling to you beckoning with their pointy orange corners and glistening salt crystals.  The friendly little Elf will beseech you to placate yourself with fudge dipped munchy goodness.  He doesn’t tell you that once you partake, you will no longer fit into the hollow tree to visit.  Bad Elf.  Then there will be the M&M brothers.  They will dance their way into your hearts and eventually your mouths.  There is always a party on aisle six.  Satan always makes it look fun.  Just keep on walking.

Learn from my mistakes my friends.  I’ve been down aisle six and have the hips to prove it.  There is nothing there you need.  Stick to the produce aisle, mayhap even the canned soup-beans and rice-Mexican-Chinese food aisle will be better for you.  Oh, please friends.  Please.

Listen to my earnest cry. Let not my heart be drawn to what is evil, to take part in wicked deeds with men who are evildoers; let me not eat of their delicacies. Psalm 141:4 NIV

Just repeat after me:  I will not go down aisle six.  Jesus is waiting for me in the bakery goods.  In Him, I will find the bread of life and need no other.

Phew.  That was close.  I felt you thinking about going down that nasty sixth aisle.  Maybe you’ve been there before.  But not today.  I am so proud of you. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Isaiah 55:2 NIV

Lord, give us this day our daily bread and help us not go down aisle six instead.  Amen.

    Carol-
This is great. Our evening Bible Study at church tonight was in James 1 about temptation! One God – One Word. Okay – no aisle six. I’m clinging to the healthy -physically and spiritually!
    Thanks for the funny-

    Sigh.
I have been mentally composing a poem to sugar…about how our torrid affair must come to an end.
    Sigh, again.
Me and aisle six need to break all ties, too.
    🙂

Oh that aisle six….the longterm consequences are SO not worth the false satisfaction that comes from the time spent there!

    Hi Carol,
Thanks for visiting me on Aroma of Joy. This is great! I know all to well what you mean; it starts out so innocently with just a little nibble, and before you know it you’re double fistin them! Whether it’s Cheese Its or M&M’s we are in trouble!…..then we are left wondering how we got like this!

Thanks for the book recommendation (What happens When Women Walk In Faith). I do have that book so I will read it after I finish the first one.

    Take care,
    Kelley
