This Little Light of Mine

May 12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”John 8:12 NIV

“Have you ever thought about how amazing clouds are” my husband drew me out of my thoughts as we traveled down the highway towards my mother’s.  “Huh?” I didn’t comprehend. “Have you ever thought about how amazing clouds are,” he asked again.  “I mean you can’t really see through them, but the light can get through.  We aren’t driving in darkness.  The sun filters through them.”  I thought about it for a minute.

“The light is so strong it goes through them,” I said.
“Makes you think about how strong light is.  If you have a huge room full of darkness, even the tiniest light will brighten the room.  The light is so much more powerful than the darkness.”
By this time, my mind was reeling with the implications of his statement.  Light is so much more powerful than the darkness.  Just one little bit of light will dispel the darkness all around it.
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the lightof the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV
I thought of the power of ONE.  One sun shines to light the earth.  Christ was One Light who came to a dark world to share His love and His light.  As Christians, we each carry one light.  As small as our lights may be, they will bring light to the darkness around us.
I can make a difference to the people around me.  I carry His light to scatter the darkness around me.  I sat a little straighter, tightened my seatbelt a bit, and smiled.
Thank you Lord for being the Light in this world.  We know that your Light is stronger than any amount of darkness.  Help me to let my little light shine.

And I echo your prayer for those walking in the darkness right now..
“Father, speak Your Word, Let there be light..”.
And as I continue to think on ‘light’, the concepts of warmth, heat, hope, lucidity come to mind…and were it not for the darkness, I would not appreciate that Light as I do now…

How thankful I am that Jesus is the Light in the darkness! I choose to follow in His light and stay clear of the darkness. It seems that everyday people walk around in the dark. What illuminating words you have shed
to remind me that I can carry that light and make a difference.

Oh Lord, thank you for the strength in Your Light! Help me to shine Your light in the darkness of other’s lives! Bless Carol(and her hubby & family) who look through the aMazing clouds and see
the Power of Your Light and Love shed over us…keep them safe & in Your Light! Peggy

I am so thankful for the light that Jesus brings to our lives!

I love thinking about this as the light that penetrates the clouds.

I have two songs that popped into my head reading this…first the obvious “this little light of mine” and the other was a Newsong hit back in the day. 🙂 “Light Your World”…. It’s amazing to me what a difference a little light brings…

You know..lighting a few candles can change the whole mood in a room! It’s humbling to me to think that we, those who have Jesus living in us, are like candles in this world..makes me ask what kind of mood am I setting?

Wow..I’m chatty this morning! Love you girl!

I love the clouds. I especially love the verse in Nahum 1:8 that says “the clouds are but the dust of His feet.”
Sometimes when I gaze up in the sky and see clouds everywhere I think “His feet are everywhere”. I LOVE that.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and your sweet words.
