There’s A Way

Oct 1

Today I’m at a loss for words.  I have spent the afternoon in prison.  No, I didn’t rob a cheesecake factory.  I got to sit in on a seminary class there.  Yes, I did say seminary.   It’s going to take me a few days to digest everything.  I will have lots to share in the coming days, I’m sure.  But one sweet man raised his hand and asked if he could share a poem with us.

He stood and most eloquently shared his heart in verse.  I asked him for permission to share it with you.

There’s A Way

 Survival is the fittest

  in this place I dwell.

Away from society,

at times I want to yell.

Lose my cool? I think not.

  There’s someone much greater

Who can fulfill this empty spot.

  Jesus Christ the comforter

which brings souls to peace,

It is Him in this dark

and cold place I wholeheartedly seek.

I turned to His Divine Father

and acknowledged my sinful ways,

for Christ died for my sins

and it is Him whom I praise,

  Thank God for His grace

and His sweet mercy too.

  Isn’t it good to know

what our Savior was willing to do.

            There’s a way!

The ultimate picture of grace……its only by the grace of God that we arent in the same place as these people —–I am quick to forget that sometimes.

Wow. The timing of this is…well, if it wasn’t just like God, I would be passed out on the floor. I needed to be reminded that if it weren’t for the grace of Almighty God…

I’ll share details with you later…

    hugs
    steph.

Oh Carol, before we left GA I was getting ready to start writing devotions for the prison not far from the church. The “Writer’s of Light” group there at the church do it as a ministry. I was only able to attend a couple of meetings before we moved, and you know how fast that move was!

I was so excited! Special things can happen there behind bars. Lives change…just like that!
Everyone deserves God’s grace. Everyone deserves it because God himself said so!

I just cannot wait to hear more. My heart is there girl…my heart is there!

Amazing how God works with man to change something so evil into something so beautiful and to give these prisoners hope, where none was before. Who else could possibly do this?

Oh, how beautiful to see those men lifting their hands in praise to the Father who loves them! Thank you for sharing this video and the beautiful poem by J. How exciting to see God touching hearts…especially the hearts of those whom many have probably given up on! God is amazing! And seeing these inmates fills me with hope!
    Thanks, Carol!
