Here I Am!

It’s rained for the past week at my house, and I have to admit the rain makes me want to do nothing. And maybe that’s okay. Because most of the time, I’m running and rushing challenging myself to see how many items I can check off my to-do list.

That doesn’t sound so bad, right? The problem with a do-er like me is sometimes I need to focus on what’s being done instead of the fact that it’s getting done. Make sense?

God’s really been talking to that do-er in me this new year. At each year’s end I spend some time in prayer and in God’s Word asking God what verse He would like me to focus on in the coming year – one verse to meditate on during the coming days and months.

This year God gave me Psalm 46:10, Be still and know that I am God. At first I told God, “Nuh-uh. That’s not it.” But He persisted. You see even in Godly things, I often try too much. I work to make things happen, but God is reminding me that if He calls me to do something, He will work out the details to make it happen. I just need to be still sometimes.

So, you haven’t seen me much since Christmas because, dear friends, I have been focusing on being still. Oh, I’m still writing – a LOT. Just not necessarily here. God has opened lots of doors for new opportunities. Before you go getting worried, I’m not leaving this blog.

Just don’t worry if you go for a few days or a week without hearing from me here. I’m just sitting somewhere trying to be still – probably with the world’s cutest three-year old in my lap. 🙂

But I do have a double treat for you today. Consider it a bonus for waiting so long. I wrote more about being still and how God really brought that verse home for me on the Internet Cafe today. Click HERE to read that devotion called Be Still and Know.

Then I wrote about boundaries today at 5 Minutes for Faith in a post called When It’s Time to Back Away. Click HERE to read that devotion.

I’d love to hear from you. Leave me a comment or drop me a line letting me know what God is teaching you this year.
