Forever

Dec 12

Have you ever heard the song A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes? It is from Cinderella.  This summer we took a vacation to Disney World.  They play that song everywhere.  Faith must have heard the words, and they stuck with her.  The first night we were there we watched the big fireworks show after the parade.  She was mesmerized.  As the grand finale fireworks went off, she turns to me with bright eyes and raised brows and exclaims, “My heart came true to me!  I wished for fireworks and here they are!”  Oh, to be a child again.

I remembered this story yesterday when Faith was wishing again.  We were waiting on Colin’s bus to arrive when she found one lonely dandelion.  She gasped when she saw it and asked if she could blow it and make a wish.  I’m thinking of all those dandelion seeds scattering to the wind, but I agree remembering the scads of dandelions I blew as a child.  I was rewarded.  She grabbed that weed and blew with all her mite.  With the seeds floating all around us, she looks up and me and grins.  “I wished you would be my mommy forever.”  My heart melted.  I smiled back. “Your wish came true! I will be your mommy forever!”
I tucked that snapshot in my heart to keep forever.  It’s good to be loved.
