After the Rain

Oct 15

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:4 NIV

The rain has come to a steady drizzle, and the sun peers around the clouds. I can’t help but sit and reflect on the recent downpour. My toes are wet, and I squish them inside damp socks. I’m not upset. I know they will dry, and the sun will come out. My eye catches something through the tree limbs in front of me. I gaze upward and gasp. The full spectrum of colors splashes through the sky like a discarded bucket of paint. Without notice an old friend appears and sits below my cheeks – a smile. Things are looking up.

My rainbow came last night in the form of a decision. My first-born child has asked Jesus to live in his heart. He is now a part of the fellowship of God. There is no greater joy than that of your child falling in love with Jesus and choosing to follow Him. Today, Jesus will begin work on a new mansion in heaven. One belonging to Colin James Hatcher. I know because He told me “I go to prepare a place for you.” I hope He builds it next to mine.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the gift you have given me in being the mother of a boy with a golden heart. I ask you to bless him. Draw him close to you. Teach him Your ways. Please give his father and I the wisdom to raise him to be pleasing in Your sight. Put others in his path to help him along the way. Thank you for the gift you’ve given us in your Son.

Amen.

I know there is no greater joy than knowing your child's name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life! Man, God is just so good.

    I love you Carol.

As Cheri said, "there is no greater joy" than knowing your child is a child of God. This decision made in younger years will help him live his life as he gets older. This is a challenging world for our children to grow up in; he belongs to God – that will make it easier for him.

I just happened upon your blog. What a feeling when your child gives their heart to the Lord… Such joy! I enjoyed your posts, and the one about your grandmother brought tears… I will be back!
