Fresh Sheets

Every Saturday morning I change the sheets on our bed.  I love the feeling of fresh clean sheets when I stretch out at the end of a long day.  This morning I was pulling off the old sheets when I realized the newness of fresh sheets is the same feeling God brings.  When we are feeling a little fuzzy and worn, we can go to Him.  The Almighty strips us of the old insecurities and sinful nature, and He cleanses us and makes us new.

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”  Lamentations 3:22-24 NIV

This week I’m worn and fuzzy.  If you’ve read my previous post you know one of my friends tried to commit suicide.  I’ve worried and prayed for her all week.  I’ve been rejected.  Twice. One rejection even told me my writing wasn’t engaging.  ouch.  My girlfriend Amy‘s son has had four seizures.  Yes, I said four.  In one week.  So, sweet friends, at the end of this week, I am left feeling weary and worn.  I need fresh sheets.
This song is my heart’s cry today.  My friend Kimberly posted it a long time ago, and I loved it.  If you don’t have time to listen, read the lyrics.  I love how she says, “I have to” instead of  “I need to” or “I should.”  Have to means you have no other choice.  There is no option but to praise.   Friends, I have no other option but to praise.  Won’t you join me?

    done by someone else and you just “hang out” some fresh sheets!

    Thank you for sharing some of the event of this painful week with us. I needed to hear this song, as well. I can’t imagine the feeling of despair you felt when you friend attemted suicide and the mercy you show in your concern for others is a spiritual gift. Continue using that to offer comfort.     Carol,oh, yes I agree there are times that I have to praise Him. We should praise Him in the good times and bad. I have found when I praise Him in the midst of a storm that He calms me if He doesn’t calm the storm. The song was great, the words were right on target. May He meet you at your point of need and be the lifter of your head. I think you express yourself well with your writing and that you are gifted by Him to write. Blessings on your Lords’ day worship. May He come down and fill you up.

    Sounds like you are going through a rough patch right now, but it’s good to know that our God is faithful and that things will work for our good no matter the circumstance.

    I remember the week I posted this song. I cannot remember the details of what was going on, just that it was a week where I played that song over and over and over and over as I sat and just cried. Praise God for the truth of His Word and the hope and comfort that come from His truths.

    I am so sorry about your rejections, Carol. To say your writing isn’t engaging…I’m no professional, but I have been coming back here ever since your McDonald’s post because I was so drawn to how you write and the love of Jesus that pours out of you. You write with such wit and love and honesty. Don’t give up. I know you won’t. I just hate to think of you feeling down. God’s timing is perfect, and He has blessed you with great talent. You are a blessing!

    Whew!!! It’s HAS been a week, hadn’t it?! Attacks are coming from every angle for so many of us. I love this song! I know that He WILL move my mountains – if I earnestly seek Him in prayer and ASK.
